After a long and cold winter break Heren 1 had reloaded their batteries to start the second part of the competition. On a teambuilding trip to Terrassa the team had shown that they were ready to fight till the end of every game to ensure a win. The first game was to be fought in Turnhout. On the difficult pitch of Taxandria the Heren were ready to show their opponent that they came with only one goal, to get the three points. Temse started the game with a few attacks, but it was Taxandria that scored the first goal. Yet Heren 1 was not just giving up, they kept on working hard and it paid off. In just 15minutes they changed the score from 1-0 to 1-3 after a penalty corner by Timothy Thiers and two goals by Sebastiaan De Cock. But with 10 minutes to go in the first half the team started getting tired and they got caught by some fast plays by Taxandria. Taxandria brought the score back to level just before halftime. In the second half Temse found back the energy to press Taxandria on their half. And once again Timothy found the net after a penalty corner, 3-4. But Taxandria was also not giving up, after a fast counter they scored the 4-4. Both teams were fighting to get the winning goal, but it was Temse who got it! After a good action by Wouter Van Hecke the ball ended up in front of the stick of Nicolas De Cock who only had to push the ball into an open goal, 4-5 with only 10 minutes to play. In the end of the game Taxandria did everything they could to score one last goal, but thanks to some great goalkeeping by Maxime De Braekeleir they didn’t find the net. Three hard fought points and a good start to the second half of the competition. The team is ready for the next games and will keep working hard to compete with the best. Next Sunday 26/02 Temse will play against Brugge. The game will be played in Temse and will start at 15.30h. See you all there!
